Odysseus is a space adventure for 104 players. The story takes place 800 years in the future, in a distant star system called the Arati system.
One hundred years after our present day, the humanity embarked on a one-way trip to the stars. They established a thriving colony on the planet Ellarion and its moons. But after centuries of peace, a sentient race that was named the Machines appeared and, unprovoked, initiated a war against the human colonies. The war lasted for decades. The Machines' offensive consisted mainly of unpredictable skirmish-like attacks, with the humans unable to retaliate due to the mysterious nature of the Machines and their unknown origins.
Twenty years before the start of the game, the war ended when the enemy suddely and inexplicably disappeared – only to reappear again, seven days ago, for one final devastating attack. By simultaneously crippling most of the system’s military forces and planetary defences, the Machines destroyed all major population centers on all three planets. It was as if the Machines knew how to neutralize all available countermeasures.
The remnants of the human civilization were scattered, beaten and waiting for the final blow. But it is not in the human nature to give up. The survivors are forming a fleet with the goal of saving their civilization, guided by one hope: exploring their nearly lost and forgotten legacy to find their way back to Earth.
